Please support (AND VOTE) for the Ability Commons -- vote til June 30

Something wonderful is happening and with one small action you can be part of it. Our friends in the Health Support Coalition have a chance to win 300,000 Lindens from the Annenberg School to create a SL home for a wide range of peer support groups.

"Ability Commons" is the work of Gentle Heron, Carolina Keats and many of the 41 members of the Health Support Coalition, including MDSLA, Crohn's and Colitis Support, Open Gates Peer Support, and Agoraphobia Support Group.

We need your help, right now. Please take 20 seconds to go to this website

and vote for "Ability Commons." Rank the project "1) Favored" and do your part to help us create an incubator for small and emerging groups.

You will be asked to vote for your top three choices of five. Information on all five is here:

Your first choice vote for Ability Commons will allow more people with disabilities and health issues to share our pleasure and purposefulness in Second Life.

Will you do more? Please forward this note to your friends - voting is open until June 30, and your help will make all the difference.

Thank you!

Our proposal is here:

Just to add in my 2 cents here:

The idea of an 'Ability Commons' is a dream I have long had, since finding so many health support groups in Second Life. The power of SL lies in our collaboration, without a doubt - none of us know by ourselves 'how to do it right' - that's what we're here to discover. Sharing our stories and strength has the effect of multiplying, many times over, our impact and the possibilities for change!

Nick Abramovic, who successfully fought for Medicare coverage in order to be allowed to stay at home with his famly, would not have been able to share his inspiring story as effectively without having a community of others; with it, his experience is worldwide, benefiting many more people.

Please help us to multiply and extend our reach by supporting this proposal. None of us benefits financially from this grant - but all of us will grow. This is the best part of Second Life, and an extension of the earliest promise of the Internet itself, in supporting the growth of a caring community without boundaries.

I see the Ability Commons as a wonderful outreach to many people who live marginal lives due to disabilities. I voted for it, and I hope others did too. I would love to see a US sub group of SIM builders develop from this collective force, that could participate in US Government builds, as a top bidder with great resources. I work for the government, and I want them to use Abilitiy Commons builders to build a SIM for my government organization. Do you find this valuable?
