    • We are here to assist all SL residents with health information questions. HealthInfo Island is a project funded by a grant from the National Network of the National Library of Medicine (NN/NLM), written by Lori Bell, administered by the Alliance Library System of East Peoria, Illinois. In addtion to providing the services of a health reference librarian, we also work to host events, and to encourage collaboration between health support groups. Here, you'll also find informational displays showcased - come check out the Path of Support, which illustrates graphically the overwhelming number of health support groups there are in Second Life.

    • Guided Tour Vehicle can be found by the Center Pavilion and the Medical Library -- this tour is not to be missed!

    • 1) Center pavilion - HealthInfo Island (131,138,22) Here's the main landing site - we'll post new classes (like the upcoming series on PubMed) here, and other information.

    • 2) Consumer Health Library - HealthInfo Island (63,149,21) The library's meant to be welcoming and warm - anything but institutional.

    • 3) Medical Library - (172,198,25) Headed by Namro Orman, the Medical Library highlights applications and displays (like Healthy, an experiment in artificial intelligence, whose answers to your questions definitely need to be take with a grain of salt (or 5)!

    • 4) National Library of Medicine, Special Information Services - HealthInfo Island (197,160,22) Come see their work on the terrific Toxtown display, a Second Life version of their wonderful environmental health website of the same name.

    • 5)Ivy Tech's nursing videos, located between the Medical Library and the National Library of Medicine's Special Information Services builiding, are used to help nursing students learn basic skills.

    • 6) Mountain gardens - HealthInfo Island (68,207,23) More spaces here, these designed by Isa Goodman (a gifted landscape designer and educational software designer) to provide small spaces for gathering or just for meditation.

    • 7) The Harry Potter World of Magic, Science and Medicine - HealthInfo Island (77,174,21) This exhibit is not to be missed!
